Bandelettes On Exhibit at The Met!
We’re excited to announce that Bandelettes® Thigh Bands have been placed on display at the Metropolitan Museum of Art (The Met). Our inclusion in the “In America: A Lexicon or Fashion” exhibit makes us particularly proud, as this exhibit features about 100 of the most influential American designers dating back to the 1940’s.
The unique exhibit is organized based on inspiration from a quote by Jesse Jackson about a patchwork quilt being a metaphor for American cultural identities.
“America is not like a blanket — one piece of unbroken cloth, the same color, the same texture, the same size. America is more like a quilt — many patches, many pieces, many colors, many sizes, all woven and held together by a common thread.”
— Jesse Jackson, 1984 Democratic National Convention
This is why each featured garment is contained within its own compartment, much like a patchwork quilt. And at the top of each display they’ve added a word to describe the garment’s relevance. On a placard directly above our exhibit you’ll see a single word: CONFIDENCE. We couldn’t be happier with that selection, since making our customers confident in their own skin is what we’re all about!
Bandelettes® are featured alongside the “Sigourney” suit, a part of Becca McCharen-Tran’s body-inclusive collection for Chromat. Inside the description The Met writes, “The unapologetic emphasis on the body has led to such innovations as the anti-chafing thigh bands featured here (presented in collaboration with Bandelettes), which seamlessly fuse novelty and functionality, prioritizing the experience of the wearer above all else.” We just love that!
If you’re in New York before September 5, 2022, you should stop by The Met and visit the exhibit. While you’re there, why not take a cute selfie in front of the Chromat/Bandelettes® display and tag us on social media?
